(1\/26\/15 Update: My newest course, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.doctorkeys.com\/pop-piano-accompaniment-home-page.html\"><em>Pop Piano Accompaniment<\/em><\/a>, does indeed teach 9th chords.)<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s because our focus so far has been on building a strong foundation, on helping you to grasp simple chords in a truly <em>practical<\/em> way, before moving on to more advanced harmonies.<\/p>\n<p>As a teacher, I&#8217;ve learned over the years that students can often build the most complicated chords without knowing how to actually <em>use<\/em> even the simplest, including:<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&#8211;how to create smooth chord connections using inversions<br \/>\n&#8211;how to play a bass line<br \/>\n&#8211;how to set chords into motion to suit various songs and rhythmic styles<br \/>\n&#8211;how to use chords to accompany your own singing<br \/>\n&#8211;how to play chords using relaxed, efficient, piano technique<br \/>\n&#8211;how to transpose chord progressions from one key to another<\/p>\n<p>So that&#8217;s what I&#8217;ve been teaching you up to now.
